Our Costa Rica Photo Safari Workshops are designed to give you incredible opportunities to photograph the country's extraordinary wildlife while experiencing the beauty of the rainforest alongside knowledgeable local guides and fellow nature lovers.

More Than a Photography Workshop
Kimberly & Don provide hands-on photography guidance throughout the safari, helping with camera settings, composition, wildlife photography techniques and making the most of each opportunity. Whether you're learning your camera or have years of photography experience, the instruction is tailored to your individual skill level.
In the evenings, we'll have opportunities to review images from the day, discuss what worked, answer questions and explore editing techniques that can help bring your photographs to life.
You Don't Have to Be a Photographer
Love wildlife but don't carry a big camera? You're absolutely welcome.
Our safaris are created for photographers, bird enthusiasts, wildlife lovers, couples and adventurous travelers who simply want to experience Costa Rica's incredible natural world.
There is no pressure to photograph every moment. Sometimes the best thing you can do is put the camera down and simply enjoy what's happening in front of you.

Smaller groups mean more personal photography guidance, greater flexibility in the field, less crowding around wildlife sightings and more time to slow down when something extraordinary happens.

We’re Kimberly & Don, wildlife photographers, travelers, and the team behind Monden Photo Safari.
With more than 30 years of professional photography experience, Kimberly and Don love helping others become more confident behind the camera. We both share a passion for wildlife, photography, and adventure, and together we've traveled the world in search of unforgettable wildlife experiences.
Our approach is relaxed and hands-on. Throughout the safari, we're there to help with camera settings, composition, wildlife techniques, and capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments. Evening image reviews and editing sessions give you another opportunity to learn and improve.
Whether you're an experienced photographer, a beginner, or simply love wildlife and nature, you're welcome.

Not at all! Our safaris welcome photographers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced photographers. And if you simply love wildlife and nature but aren't a photographer, you're welcome too.

Bring the camera equipment you're most comfortable using. Before the trip, we'll provide recommendations for cameras, lenses, memory cards, batteries, and other helpful gear. You don't need the most expensive equipment to enjoy the experience.

Yes. Photography guidance is available throughout the safari, including help with camera settings, composition, wildlife photography techniques, and working with changing light. We also offer evening image-review and editing sessions.

Included
Your package includes accommodations specified in the itinerary, meals and non-alcoholic beverages, scheduled tours and activities, park entrance fees, domestic transportation and flights included in the itinerary, and photography guidance. Please see the individual safari page for the exact inclusions for your trip.
Isn’t Included
International airfare to and from Costa Rica, alcoholic beverages, personal purchases, travel insurance, and other expenses not specifically listed as included in your safari package are not included.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip cancellation/interruption, medical coverage, emergency evacuation, and coverage for your photography equipment.

Wildlife is wild, and that's part of what makes these adventures so exciting! While our experienced local guides know the areas and wildlife extremely well, specific wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed.
